There was nothing in my room when I walked in
White walls, wood floor, two windows flowing wind
Lonely light socket, 3-prong outlet, closet door
Then a light switch and nothing more
Subsequently I began to add
All those good things I liked and I had
The paint job, a little green, a little blue
An amplifier that smells a bit like a barbeque
I hung a picture on the wall, from when I’ve almost forgotten
When we grew our hair long, almost moved to Scotland
All four of these walls go through phases
Just as I do as each day changes
A week ago I bought a dozen potted plants
As my writing leaned to the left in a formerly unknown slant
Painting a mask with every shade of blue I could find
All those things I must have left behind, I don’t mind
As it happened, I began to fill my mind
With some daydreams of architectural designs
As expressions grow light, the thoughts do not decay
Of at least a thousand other rooms I’ve left long away
But this feels like a moving extension of my soul
A degree of a circle, a part of a whole
There’s a big blank canvas up upon my wall
If I don’t know what to do at all
The Seams' jangly pop is full of lovely melodic twists and elegant turns-of-phrases delineating the quotidian details of love and romance. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 5, 2018
